Secretary - Becky Gladstone

Becky Gladstone started working with Democrats after empty nesting, invited into Kitty Piercy's campaign by a fellow school lobbying parent. She has volunteered for Oregon Democrats since 2004, working as Kerry staff and Oregon 4th CD Delegate to Boston. Since then, she's been DPO Finance Vice-Chair, DPLC Events Chair, and 2005 Summit Co-Chair. She worked to initiate Treasurers' Trainings and on the DPO Grants Committee. The 2006 campaign also brought running phone banks and serving Chris Edwards as a treasurer. As DPO Secretary she wants to work to bring Democrats together, to make it easier for them to keep in touch, to get more people actively involved. She's enjoying working on the Delegate Selection Plan for Denver 2008 and with our 5 Congressional Districts.

Becky was raised with a strong sense of patriotism, as an Army Brat, then a Navy wife, from a family of 1880's Northwest homesteaders. She is the first person in her family to graduate from college, in Fisheries from UW, and has worked in Alaska and in product development and quality control, grading hogs and peas, buying Oregon berries, tasting chocolate, and inspecting NW food processors.

She volunteered in her daughters' schools since before 1992, when her family began the loving adoption process to become Oregonians. She and her husband come from a western Washington background, where they met in 1974. They have raised two daughters in Eugene, one in mathematics and the other with the Ice Cube project in physics. Becky's husband Igor is a Eugene Neonatologist who also enjoys writing neonatal training questions, building furniture, playing French horn and grinding telescopes. They are restoring their old house together. She loves Oregon and has very high hopes for our future.
