Bill Kroger, Candidate for Male Vicechair
My goals include: support the chair, get Democrats elected, improve communications internally between the DPO and the county organizations, work to make the party more visible to the public and to legislators, get more veterans involved in the party.
Last year I was the chair of the DPO’s Public Relations Committee and produced the PR tutorial for the counties and the “Oregon Democratic Vision†flyer that was used throughout the state. I was an officer and session leader at the DPO Platform Convention in Eugene. I also have been chair of the Washington County PR Committee for three years, am on the Executive Committee, am an elected delegate to the state Central Committee and am an elected PCP (twice). I have provided financial support to many candidates, knocked on scores of doors, including for Gov. Kulongoski, and made hundreds of phone calls.
I grew up in a small town in Nevada, earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s degree in economics and worked much of my career in the news business and in public relations. I also worked for a governor, in education and for the Portland Chamber of Commerce. In Washington, DC, I worked for the U.S. Chamber and for a U.S. senator. I have had my own PR business in Oregon for a dozen years.
I retired as a lieutenant colonel from the U.S. Army National Guard/Reserve after 28 years, and I served in Vietnam as a sergeant.
