We need your help to put in place our 36-county strategy. Building on Howard Dean's 50-state strategy, our organizers are working with Democrats throughout the state to implement the Neighbor to Neighbor organizing plan and strengthen county parties.

We're also deploying new technology:

  • GetActive helps us manage our volunteer lists, conduct email campaigns, and promote events.
  • The Voter Activation Network (VAN) manages our voter file information. It was a great success during the 2006 campaign, and we're working now to use all its capabilities.
  • This new web site, based on the open-source Drupal platform, will make it easier to keep you informed.

In October 2007, we'll host the Oregon Summit, bringing Democrats from all over Oregon to Sunriver for a weekend of training, seminars, discussions, and fun.

We count on your help to fund these important programs. The infrastructure we build in the next 18 months will be what sustains us through the 2008 campaign season.

You can make a direct contribution, or join one of our special donor programs:

Special Donor Programs

The President's Council is our largest revenue source for "federal" dollars that we can use to support presidential, senatorial and congressional candidates. Individuals contribute amounts between $1000 and $10,000 annually to join.

Grassroots Dollars is the DPO's monthly contribution program. It's the "bricks and mortar" fund that helps pay the rent, the phones, the power and basic operating expenses. Gifts of $10 to $25 each month produce total yearly gifts of $120 to $300 and keep us running year around.

Under the new campaign finance laws, state parties shoulder a much bigger responsibility for raising their own money. National parties are prohibited from raising "soft money", which reduces the funds they have available to support state efforts. We Oregon Democrats need to finance our own efforts.

The money you contribute to the Democratic Party of Oregon stays in Oregon. Money contributed to national fund-raising efforts may end up being spent anywhere. If you want your funds to do the most good here in Oregon, make your donation to the DPO.

Contributions are not tax-deductible for federal income tax purposes, but Oregon residents are eligible for the $50 ($100 per couple) per year Oregon Tax Credit to political parties. This is not an income deduction; it is direct tax credit, so if you give us $50, you can take the $50 directly off your tax due.
