Key Deadline Approaches For Delegates To Democratic National Convention
May 22 is deadline for Oregon Democrats to file their application to run as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention.
Portland - Oregon Democrats have less than three weeks to file their paperwork to be a delegate to the Democratic National Convention.
May 22 marks the last day that Oregon Democrats can file to run as a delegate to the convention August 25-28 in Denver. All forms must be in by 5 p.m.
"Any registered Democrat can run as a delegate to the convention," DPO Chair Meredith Wood Smith said. "But you have to file by 5 pm on May 22nd at www.oregondemocrats.org."
Hundreds of Democrats across the state will attend conventions to vote for the Oregon delegation to the national convention.
Five Congressional District Conventions will be held on June 7, followed by the State Convention on June 21. Delegates will be elected from each convention.
"This convention is about you, our state, and our common goal to take back the White House," Wood Smith said. "Go to www.oregondemocrats.org today to register."
Information on how to run as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention is available at www.oregondemocrats.org. Oregon will send 65 delegates to the convention. 52 pledged delegates, one unpledged add-on delegate and 12 automatic or "Super" delegates. The number of pledged delegates for Clinton and Obama will be apportioned by the primary vote.
