Mac Prichard, Candidate for Chair

Dear Oregon Democrats,
I believe the election for DPO chair is about who will best support grassroots Democrats, raise the money to mobilize voters, and communicate our message. As party chair, I can deliver on these goals.
I’ve worked with rural and urban Democrats across Oregon to get things done. My accomplishments include:
- Leading house party programs as a volunteer for Howard Dean, John Kerry, and the DPO that raised $650,698 at 969 events with 21,117 guests. All 2004 general election revenues stayed in Oregon and supported campaign operations, including offices in rural counties.
- Introducing revenue sharing for all county parties in 2005 as chair of the DPO Finance Committee.
- Overseeing a DNC-funded outreach effort to religious voters in 2006 as chair of the DPO Faith Caucus.
In my professional career, I’ve worked across the 36 counties. I’ve served as a speechwriter and legislative aide to Governor John Kitzhaber, as spokesman for three Oregon state agencies, and as staff to Earl Blumenauer. I am now communications director for a national social service project at Portland State.
My top priorities as DPO chair are:
- Organize in all 36 counties, increase fundraising, and expand revenue sharing with county parties.
- Promote the Democratic message through aggressive media relations and increased communication with members.
- Constantly consult with the grassroots to make sure local skills, ideas and energy are best used.
