DPO Grant Application Information

The Democratic Party of Oregon Grant Program aims to help DPO-affiliated organizations institute programs that will accomplish the following goal:

Create, build, support, and sustain the Democratic community throughout the State of Oregon by electing Democrats, increasing voter turnout and establishing and improving organizational infrastructure.

Organizations are encouraged to apply for funding of programs that will accomplish this goal. Grants are up to $500 and can be renewed once.

Eligibility Requirements

We will accept proposals only for programs that will build Neighbor-to-Neighbor organizing or that provide training, particularly regional and multi-county training.

Any organization that wishes to receive a grant must either be a current user of the Democratic Party of Oregon’s Get Active database or agree to become a user of the database. Training and start-up assistance will be provided.

Selection Process

A committee appointed by the Chair will review all applications. After the submission deadline, all proposals will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  1. Is it collaborative?
    1. Does the proposal reach out to other like-minded groups?
    2. Is it multi-county or regional in its scope?
    3. Does it work with elected officials?
  2. Does it build leadership?
    1. Does it identify and build activities that enhance party leadership skills, train new leaders, and/or increase the pool for Democratic Elected Officials?
  3. Does it create consistent engagement beginning with the 2007 Election Cycle?
  4. Is the project sustainable?
    1. How will the project be sustained beyond the grant?
    2. How will the project be furthered by the DPO grant?
  5. Are there matching funds for the initial project? (not required)
  6. Identified outcomes such as:
    1. # of volunteers recruited and sustained over the life of the project
    2. # of doors knocked with new Democratic voters identified
    3. # of candidates recruited and identify offices
    4. # of volunteers trained
    5. % increase in Democratic voter turnout

Important Dates

Grant proposals must be turned in by mail or email by March 1 for funding March 31, or by August 1 for funding August 31.
