Oregonians Protest John McCain's 100 Year Plan For Iraq
Oregon Super Delegate and retired Army Major Frank Dixon leads protest of McCain's 100 Year Plan for Iraq.
Portland - No to John McCain's 100 year plan for Iraq.
That's what 30 Oregonians, led by retired Army Major and Oregon Super Delegate Frank Dixon, said today as they protested outside the Republican presidential candidate's fundraiser at the Sheraton Portland Airport Hotel.
"We're here today because John McCain said he wants to keep our troops in Iraq for another 100 years," Dixon said. "We're here today because 4,000 American troops gave their lives in Iraq. We're here because hundreds of billions of dollars have been spent making war instead of investing in health care, on education, on our country's future."
Oregon families alone have suffered the loss of more than 100 loved ones to this war, according to Oregon State Government.
Yet McCain has said he has no problem keeping troops in Iraq for 100 more years.
"John McCain is willing to mortgage our children, our military, and our country's standing in the world to keep us in Iraq for 100 more years," Dixon said. "He's not going to change one thing with Iraq. The American people want out of Iraq, but John McCain isn't listening. But today, we're going to make him listen."
With signs, banners, speeches and chants, protestors rejected McCain's 100 year plan for Iraq. McCain held a fundraiser inside the hotel this evening, charging as much as $33,100 for a ticket.
