Course Descriptions

A. Vote Builder
Come learn how to use Vote Builder - the Democrats Voterfile.


B. County Officer (restricted to elected county officers)
From seasoned veterans to newly elected officers, this is the training for you! Get together with other County Officers and learn about best practices as they are currently being used. Learn helpful tips for How to Organize and Run and Effective Meeting, Mission Focused Organizing, Setting Effective Calendars and Agendas as well as sharing best practices with County Officers from other counties. We want to help you be effective leaders in your county and help make you life easier in terms of working in the Party.

C. Precinct Organizing Program
Come learn how to effectively and efficiently organize the precincts in your county. The DPO's Neighbor to Neighbor Organizing Program fits right alongside your current PCP program. We break the work down into manageable tasks to help you succeed! Includes what to say at the door and on the phone.

D. Constituency Structures
Constituent outreach is fun and easy! Every county is made up of dynamic and diverse communities. Learn the best ways to reach out the public, what sort of organizational structures you can build in your County Party, and exactly how to make constituency outreach a sustainable part of your strategic plan.

E. Best Practices - A Roundtable

This session is led by DPO Officers and is a great place to talk with Democrats from other counties about best practices.


F. Coalition Building
Organizing is hard work and nobody can do it alone. Learn the best ways to build coalitions and to be a coalition leader in your county. This sessions covers the difference between organized and mobilized coalitions, and covers a systematic approach to how coalitions are built and what they can do in an election year and a legislative year.

G. Fundraising/Events
Ideas from other counties and states on how to build a fundraising program from the ground up or to simply improve your current program.  Tips and tricks to hold successful events. Location, staffing needs, event math, staging for media etc.


H. Communication Strategies
Learn effective internal and external communication techniques. Effective newsletters, list serves, press releases etc.

I. Volunteer Recruitment and Retention
Learn how find and recruit new volunteers, reengage your old volunteers, keep the volunteers you get and make the whole process fun for everyone.
